Dibs on my Ribs

pork ribs+sweet & smokey rub= yummy

For the lovely ribs you see at the beginning of this post I used McCormick GrillMates Sweet & Smokey rub. Early in the morning on the day I grilled them I cleaned my ribs up and smothered them in the Sweet & Smokey rub. I then covered them in plastic wrap and put them in the fridge. They soaked up the rub for a good six hours before I put them on the grill. If you want you can also put the rub on the ribs the night before.

About 30 minutes before they went on the grill I pulled them out of the refrigerator to take the chill off them.

They cooked over a medium heat for almost three hours. I used a standing rib rack to cook my ribs. I thought I took some pictures of the ribs on the grill but I forgot! Maybe next time.

I loved the way the ribs cooked in the rack. So much easier. I was cooking 2 whole racks. I cut them in half  and then placed each half in a section of the rack to cook.  The last time I cooked 2 slabs of ribs they didn’t fit very well on my grill. The rib rack fixed that problem for me.

Thirty minute before the ribs were due to come off the grill I mixed up my bbq sauce. I use a semi homemade recipe I came up with many years ago.

Kraft BBQ Sauce

Semi Homemade BBQ Sauce

I take a bottle of Kraft Original BBQ sauce and mix in 1 cup of brown sugar, a scant 1/4 cup of ketchup and about 2 tablespoons of yellow mustard. Mix it all together really good and then brush on your ribs. Brush both sides and cook for about five minutes. Then brush both sides again, close the grill lid and cook for the remainder of cooking time.

Happy grilling and if you enter and win let me know!
