This is one of my favorite tips and tricks to save time in the kitchen.

Summer is the best time of year for this tip but any time you can buy peppers, onions and garlic  at a great price you can use this tip to save time in the kitchen . Many other vegetables can be frozen in this manner also.

During the summer when the farmers market and grocery stores are overflowing with these fresh vegetables is the time I like to do this.

One of the most time-consuming parts of many meals is the prep work. Cutting, chopping or slicing vegetables takes a lot of time. Especially when your making things like

  • soups
  •  stews
  • fajitas
  • breakfast burritos
  • casseroles
  • quesadillas

Spending one hour chopping these staple vegetables and then freezing them at the peak of freshness will save you precious time when you’re in a rush to get dinner on the table. And who wants to spend time chopping up vegetables this time of year?

It’s hot, the kids are home, your running around crazy with summer activities and if your like my family we are so busy on the weekends to worry about preparing time intensive meals.  This simple tip can save you precious time in the hot kitchen and give you more time with family, friends or dinner guests.

From Electrolux: Speaking of time saving, Electrolux induction cooktops and ranges combine the power of gas with the easy clean-up of electric, so you can boil water in just 90 seconds

For peppers of any type I like to julienne them.

Onions and garlic can be diced and chopped as fine as you like then placed in zip topped baggies and put in the freezer.

When your ready to cook remove the bag from the freezer and lightly tap them on the counter. The frozen vegetables with come apart. Then you can easily measure the amount you need for your recipe.

If your worried about the frozen vegetables adding moisture to your recipe rinse them under cold water until they are unfrozen. Drain them in a fine mesh colander to remove the excess water. You can then dab them with a paper towel if needed.
