| Cook’n Recipe Organizer Software |
As a food blogger you can just imagine the number of recipes I have laying around the house in multiply locations. I have hundreds on this computer alone.
I have disks still packed away that hold all my recipe files from the past 14 years.
Some of these recipes are my own and some are recipes that I have collected over the years that I plan on trying one day.
I have my vintage cook book collection.
I have my husbands grandmother and great grandmothers recipe cards that I scanned into the computer one day last year when my internet service was down for a couple of days.
The list goes on and on.
Before I tell you how much I love this program and why take a look at this short video to see the great features of this program.
The list goes on and on.
Before I tell you how much I love this program and why take a look at this short video to see the great features of this program.
Let’s talk about some of the features of this recipe software and how I used them.
What can the Cook’n recipe software do?
- Organize all of your personal recipes
- Create Meal plans
- Make shopping lists based on a recipe
- Compile and print family cookbooks
- Analyze nutrition of a recipe
- Change the recipe based on portions
- Capture and import recipes from recipe sites.
Organize all those recipes you have cluttering up your hard drive, stuffed in drawers and overflowing recipe boxes.
1) The first thing I did was copy and paste a couple of my own recipes in to the program.
It is a lot of work but once you get used to getting around the program it goes much faster. Also there is an auto fill feature so you don’t have to type every single letter for measurements and ingredients.
It is a lot of work but once you get used to getting around the program it goes much faster. Also there is an auto fill feature so you don’t have to type every single letter for measurements and ingredients.
2) Create meal plans: This isn’t a feature I am interested in so I didn’t actually try it out. My family is small and we all have very different tastes and meal planning is not something I do right now. But back when two of my other children were living at home this feature would have been great to have.
3) Make shopping lists. Again this isn’t something I would use but if I was planning a big family get together this would be a great option. ‘d be able to print out a shopping list based on the recipes I was serving.
4) Compile & print family cook books: Can you guess how I plan to use this feature? I haven’t started yet but what I plan to do is enter all of my husbands grandmother and great grandmothers recipes and print out a cook book for my husbands brother and sister so they can also have copies of these family recipes.
I plan on using the scanned image of each recipe card as a picture for the recipe. Then not only will they have the recipe but a picture of their grandmother and great grandmothers hand writing as seen on the recipe card.
These will be great Christmas gifts!
5) Analyze nutrition of a recipe: I did use this feature just to check it out and it was great to see a break down of a recipe. You could also use this feature to turn a recipe into a reduced sugar or fat recipe recipe just by tweeking the recipe by changing some of the ingredients and then immediately looking at the nutritional information to see how your changes reduced the amount of fat or sugar in the recipe.
I wouldn’t try this unless your an advanced cook and know how making these types of ingredient changes can alter a recipe.
6) Change the recipe based on portions. Lets say you have a baked bean recipe that normally feeds your family of 4 but your having a BBQ and you expect a crowd of 10 for dinner. Simply change the portion number for your recipe from 4 to 10 and the Cook’n recipe software will automatically make the adjustments to the ingredients for you. Print out your shopping list and off you go!
Now let me tell you why this is my favorite feature of this software!
I have been holding on to some very old early 1900′s bakery recipe booklets. These recipes are huge. They make gallons of dough for sweets like coffee cake, sweetbreads and danishes.
Picture the yummy pastry filled bakery windows of days gone by. I can almost imagine the smell of those delicious fresh baked goods.
Yep I can enter those huge recipes and by changing the portion amount reduce the recipe down to one coffee cake instead of 10. Woo hoo I can’t wait to bake one of those old time coffee cake recipes.
7) Capture and import recipes: You can simply search within the software for a recipe and hit the capture button and it will import the recipe into the software along with the website info so you know where you originally found the recipe.
Now I bet you would love to this software for yourself. So simply fill out an entry or two in the rafflecopter entry form and sit back and see if you won.

Oh I almost forgot! Another great feature is the Cook’n Cloud service
The Cook’n Cloud service makes it easier than ever to synchronize recipes between all of your Cook’n apps. For example, if you enter new recipes into Cook’n on your PC, they will automatically appear on your iPhone, iPad, Android, Mac, and other PC’s. Or, use Siri to speak new recipes into your Cook’n for iPhone app and they will automatically appear in your Cook’n desktop software!
Giveaway is open to US and International readers
DISCLOSURE: I received a copy of the Cook’n software mentioned above for free so that I could give an honest review. This is a sponsored review and giveaway through Mom Blog Society and Cook’n software. All views and opinions are my own.

Loved your post! I am not much into cooking now that my kids are grown and on their own, but when I do cook I cook like they still live here. I make way too much! I think this would be great to have to cut some of my recipes down. It would probably save me a lot of time, money, and waste. We only eat leftovers one day and then out they go.
I love the fact that you can capture & import recipes along with the website you found it from!!!
Thanks for the chance!
Great giveaway! So excited that you can make and create Family Cook Books. I love that!
My fav would be the compiling and printing family cookbooks! I have two girls who are already interested in cooking – it would be great to make our cookbook!
I have so many recipes scattered so many different places. The opportunity to bring them all together in one place would certainly make my husband happy, AND, I'd probably be more creative if I had everything in one place. Way cool!
