I have been reading a lot on the internet from the people in the know that pie is the new cupcake.
Are the powers that be talking about restaurant trends or home bakers I wonder? I love a good piece of pie myself. I love baking them and eating them. My holiday baking is slap full of pie making. But pies are not something I bake all the time. Now cupcakes on the other hand is a different story. I make them for birthdays, holidays or just for fun..
On any given day of the week I have the ingredients in my pantry to bake cupcakes either from a boxed cake mix or from scratch. If I was going to bake a pie I would have to plan ahead. Most fruit pies require fresh fruit of some sort. I’d have to run out to the store, try to find some nice fruit, which is becoming almost impossible these days. Then I either have to bake the pie that day or the next before the fruit started spoiling. Gee that’s an awful lot of pressure. I could have whipped up some cupcakes in about 30 minutes and my pie has taken up almost a full day even before it was baked.
And I really can’t see my daughter or granddaughter jumping up with glee if I said ” Hey let’s make a pie today! ” like they do when I mention baking cupcakes to them.
I’ll be baking pies when the mood strikes but cupcakes will be a regular part of my families life and our celebrations always.
I think this is a crafty ploy from someone with a pie business who decided they were sick to death of hearing about cupcakes while they are trying to sell their pies.
Pies are yummy but cupcakes are here to stay as far as I my family is concerned.

For me, cupcakes are just so easy and versatile to make. And YES, kids LOVE them!
I saw a blog with some adorable pies in a jam jar. If it was gimmicky like that there could be a following..

I hear this, too…some folks are pie folks, some are cupcake…I'm definitely a cupcake person!
There is no way a pie can compare to a cup cake. Those people are nuts. I agree some kind of "pie people" scam.
Personally, I prefer eating pie more than cupcakes but when it comes to making them…cupcakes are just easier and more versatile. I think pies are going to be more prominent but cupcakes are here to stay!
now if you have a diner/cafe. like I am hoping to open. It is much easier and cost effective to have cupcakes, pie on the other hand what if you have peach and sell one slice where cupcakes are individual and just changing the icing can make an assortment from one batch
